The WER1500 is ideally suited for telemetry applications and can be configured with a permanent public IP address viewable from the Internet supplying terminal server/client functionality and routing techniques supported within the Linux kernel embedded on the local processor. As an edge router, it also presents a secure path, if required, to data assets utilizing both data encryption and authentication techniques for protection. Field equipment can be connected serially through a RS232 or RS485 local port or through Ethernet on the local RJ45 port on the WER1500. Ethernet devices are routed over the Nextel network via NAT (Network Address Translation). |
