Arcom already produces a range of wireless network gateways and edge routers for use with RFID and cellular radio technology. Arcom has also been producing industrial network gateways using private spread-spectrum radio networks, iDEN and GPRS cellular radios, and low-earth orbit satellite technology for over 10 years. Arcom is now developing an IEEE 802.15.4 / ZigBee ready radio product using Chipcon’s industry leading CS2420 device for low power mesh networking applications. “Arcom has many years experience producing network gateway devices which link legacy and proprietary devices to standard LAN, W-LAN and cellular networks” said Glen Middleton, Managing Director of Arcom in Cambridge, “and, as a participant member, we look forward to contributing to the activities of the Gateway Working Group within the Alliance.”
Arcom will soon launch a rugged, low power network gateway product based on
ARM/XScale technology with integrated IEEE 802.15.4 / ZigBee capability. Further announcements will appear later this year.
ZigBee is a trademark of the ZigBee Alliance.
