for Datalight's

The MERLIN Development Kit features
licensed ROM-DOS operating system and Sockets network communication
application (HTTP server and FTP client/server) as well as the FlashFX
Flash Filing System all pre-loaded and configured on to the Flash
memory of the MERLIN embedded processor board.

| What
is Datalight's ROM-DOS? |
| Datalight’s
ROM-DOS is a DOS workalike operating system designed specifically
for embedded computers.
It looks and feels like standard DOS operating systems but
has a very small code size.
Also included on the MERLIN board is Datalight’s FlashFX
flash filing system which allows the flash memory (and optional
SRAM memory) to appear to the user as a conventional disk drive. |

| What
is Datalight's Sockets 2.0? |
| Datalight’s
Sockets is a command-driven Internet protocol software package for
embedded systems and runs on the ROM-DOS operating system
providing both client and server services. Sockets supports most
networking data transmission protocols, including FTP, TCP, DHCP,
IP and email (send and receive). Sockets can operate over the
MERLIN Ethernet port or via the RS-232 ports using SLIP or using
PPP and a modem. The Development Kit contains example code
demonstrating many of these features.

Datalight now incorporates the Sockets suite into ROM-DOS 7.1
branded product, however, the core OS and the communications stack
are still separately licensed. |

Arcom’s
MERLIN Development Kit is supplied complete with a single board
license for all included Datalight and Arcom pre-loaded software.
Board-only purchases of MERLIN and MERLIN-SE boards also
include licenses for all pre-loaded software.
